gigging with shifty eyes
so shifty eyes wants to go see some local bands play, and i'm always up for live music. although i'm not familiar with the bands, i've heard they're good. so i meet shifty in the bar below the venue for a couple of drinks before the show. he has made me a couple of cds - one mix, one upcoming release that was leaked to the internet. he wins some points with this gesture. but then he loses some points... when the bill comes, he says, "are you ok to pay for that since i bought the tickets?"
1. this is a show that YOU wanted to go to, and you asked me to come along as your date. i am unfamiliar with the bands, you like them a lot... i think you pretty much SHOULD have paid for the tickets.
2. if i offered to pick up the tab, that's fine. but you don't ask me to.
3. it should have at least been split.
whatever, i'll get over it. we're at a show, so i'm not going to have to deal with you averting your eyes all night, so at least there's that. the show actually is quite good, though being out until 1am on a monday night does not a chipper pdxgirl make. it's still a good time, and shifty is relatively good company. many emails continue throughout the week.
