the interruptor

so far online dating has yet to result in any fantastic findings. the next date is yet another example of this. it's also another example of how i need to pay more attention to details in profiles. like height. this date has a good plan, with a nice dinner before a show (that's a gig for my UK friends reading this). when i walk into the cafe, my first thought is "damn, that's disappointing..." i only have on my small heels (maybe 2 or 2.5 inches), and i am eye to eye with him. now i don't make definite demands when it comes to height, because i did once date a very cute guy who was 5'6". but this latest date's cuteness is not making it up for his height. darn.

dinner is nice, and the conversation flows well. fairly well anyway. he is very good at asking questions and soliciting information, but before even getting halfway through my story, he is jumping in with his two cents/his similar experiences/what that story reminds him of. at first i thought it was just nerves, but it kept going on all night. the boy loves to interrupt. thus he has been christened the interruptor (which is nicer than the first nickname i chose - shorty). despite his interrupting, we have a lot of things to talk about and a lot in common. so the night is still enjoyable.

we leave dinner for the show, and the music is quite good. however, it is a bit disconcerting to watch your date have to stand on his tippy-toes to try to see the stage.

the evening also proves to me how much of a small place portland is again. i see one of the first guys i emailed through the online dating service standing in the crowd. he is one of those guys with whom the conversation had been going quite well, and then he drops off the face of the planet (and deletes his account). at the time, we assume he has met someone else. it must not have worked out...he is at the show alone - ha.

if the interruptor calls again, will he even give me the chance to say yes between his own talking? and will i want to say yes? hmmmmm
